- Monitor and operate assembly machines and support equipment, ensuring quality standards are met, parts hoppers are filled, and raw materials, rejects and finished goods are properly staged.
- Follow established procedures for machine startup, operation and shutdown, responding to alarms during operation.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of machines and work area.
- Inspect finished parts visually and with various gauges, fixtures and scales.
- Fold, tape and label packing cartons for assembled parts, sealing and palletizing finished boxes in compliance with stacking patterns and pallet requirements.
- Communicate machine malfunctions, maintenance needs, etc. to supervisor and co-workers.
- Use of bar code scanners to track raw materials, work in process, and finished goods.
- Reworking and sorting of rejected/defective products.
Possess knowledge of and comply with SQF procedures, as appropriate.
Maintain plant cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and follow all procedures to maintain food packaging safety in designated work areas.

- Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, pushing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more with peripheral vision and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus to judge distance and space relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Light work - exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Requires frequent lifting of completed cartons weighing up to 37 pounds.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Position Qualification Requirements
Education: Equivalent to a high school education.
Experience: Over three months of experience in a similar or related position.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, performing the four operations with like common and decimal fractions.
- Ability to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to perform arithmetic operations.
- Ability to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to read simple written instructions.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly using correct pronunciation and variations in word order.
